Cheap & Cheerful | Eyes Lips Face (E.L.F)

Eyes Lips Face has got to be one of the most comprehensive beauty lines I have come across.  The list of products that they offer is very long but I would like to highlight a few items worth discussing about here.

Studio High Definition Powder ($6)

This powder has been widely compared to Make Up Forever's (MUFE) HD Microfinish Powder ($30) so right off the bat you can see the appeal of the E.L.F version.  I do not own the MUFE version but from what I can gather from other blogs, they are very similar.  They are both white, silica based powders that are very finely milled.  The purpose of these powders are to "create a soft-focused effect that diminishes lines and imperfections."  It is a nice setting powder that reduces shine but I am not sure I can see the soft-focus effect.  For $6 it is a nice way to try an inexpensive version of the MUFE HD powder.

Overall Grade:  B+

Studio Makeup Brushes ($3 to $5)

All of the Studio line brushes are made of synthetic Taklon fibers which are a great alternative to animal fur makeup brushes.  The fibers are very soft and feel gentle on the skin.  Of the ones pictured the stand out has to be the flat top Powder Brush.  The brush head is very dense and the flattened top allows for effective pick up of any powder product.  I've used mine for face powder and especially to apply my blush.

The Kabuki Face Brush works really great with loose powders such as mineral powder foundations or the High Definition Powder mentioned above.  Overall, the Studio line of brushes are good quality for the price.

Overall grade:  B+

Mechanical Eyelash Curler ($1)

This eyelash curler is from the Essentials line and is worth mentioning because of the ridiculously inexpensive price and it actually works pretty good on my puny eyelashes.  Eyelash curlers are kind of tricky and are very personal because not every curler works with every eye shape.  These are such a steal at $1 and that is why I own two backups.

Overall Grade:  B+

(Go to their website and see the astonishing amount of products they offer.  Join their email list or like their facebook page for updates on their frequent discount codes.  I suggest always purchasing with a discount code because the shipping is a bit high at $6.95)
